Christmas

This Wednesday, I went to 東海 with my friends in order to celebrate Christmas. At about
9:45, we gathered and rode motorcycles to 東海 together. The weather was cold and I felt uncomfortable, however, Pauline gave her scarf to me. She was so nice :)

here were a lot of motorcycles on the road, I thought maybe they also wanted to go to 東海. When we were in the traffic jam, we were afraid that someone would miss and loss their way. Unfortunately, it really happened. After we park our motorcycles, some people dissappeared. Because we had no choice, we had to go to 東海 without them. After we entered the school, I saw many beautiful buildings which were decorated by the students. Also, I saw many couples :( .

Anyway, in order to hear the bellring together, I kept calling them. In the end, they asked us to find them, and we did. However, something bad happened. When we were on the way to find them, the bell rang. However, too many people stood next to us so it was very crowd and noisy. We couldn't hear the bellring clearly!!! Wow wow wow , all of us really wanted to cry......

In the end, we took some pictures and said goodbye to 東海. I thought I won't go there next Christmas.

Cultural Differences(revised)

Cultural Differences

This summer vacation, I work on a volunteer for a Chinese intensive program, where I met a lot of foreigners. After getting along with them for a month, I found that they were very kind and we became good friends. They often told me much about their lives in Germany, and I discovered that people in Taiwan and Germany have different concepts about education, family, and sexual equality.

First, education in Germany is more flexible than in Taiwan. Parents do not ask their children to try hard to get high grades. Instead, they encourage their children to join clubs and exercise. For them, the most important thing is that their children have wonderful childhoods. Moreover, German students seldom go to cram schools. They only go there for more knowledge, not for grades. For instance, if they want to learn how to play the piano, they will go to cram schools to learn it. However, parents in Taiwan always ask their children to study hard. Parents will tell their children that if they don’t attend good universities, they will be losers in the future. Furthermore, parents seldom want their children to join extracurricular activities and some of them even think they will waste time. Most importantly, most students in Taiwan go to cram schools every day, but the reason they go there is not for leaning what they like but for getting good grades.

Second, German don’t emphasize on the importance of families. After they are eighteen, it’s common for them to move out and make money by themselves. Besides, they won’t consider taking care of parents as their duties. For example, once I asked my German friend whether he wanted to live with his parents, and he seemed very surprised. He said that he is independent and can deal with everything , so his parents won’t interfere in his decisions or ask him to do something for them. However, family is very important in Taiwan. Taiwanese usually take filial piety for granted, and they look after their parents even when they move out or be married. What’s more, their parents give them advice even they are independent. Take my cousin for example. He is twenty seven but still lives with his parents. He gives them money, listens to their opinions, and concerns about them. He is a typical filial child in Taiwan.

Third, people in Germany stress the importance of sexual equality. In Germany, they don’t have sexual discrimination and treat everyone equally. Therefore, many women go out to work and earn money to raise her families. Also, it’s easy for women to be promoted if they do the jobs well. Moreover, men and women will do the housework together. Instead of asking women to do all the housework, they think that people who have more free time should do the housework. However, some Taiwanese still don’t have the concept of sexual equality. For instance, some people believe that women should stay at home to take care of children and do all the housework.Besides, if men and women also do well on the jobs, it is men who usually get promoted. Sometimes when women become managers, people won’t be happy for them but say that they must be workholics. On the contrary, if men are managers, people will say that they have good abilities.

There are many cultural differences between Taiwan and Germany, especially in the areas of education, family, and sexual equality. Although we have a lot of different concepts, every culture is unique. Because of cultural differences, our world is wonderful.

12/19

These days, I couldn't concentrate on my studies. I knew that I should study hard but I just couldn't do it well. On Monday afternoon, we had a meeting about one act play. Aftering the meeting, I came home at 7:00. I surfed the enternet and ate the dinner. In the end, I really did nothing important. It really drove me crazy!

On Wednesday evening, I went to basketball court to take pictures for the basketball players in our department. They did a great job, and everyone was happy and had fun. Now, they all called me photographer. :) However, I didn't study at that night. It was too bad......

Today, we ate lunch with our teacher,朱崇儀. She is a very nice teacher, and the hot pot was delicious. Most importantly, we didn't need to pay money, ha ha ha.
Briefly, I was very happy these days, but I thought I should spend more time on my studies. I couldn't keep complain that I didin't have enough time to study, instead, I should do the time management well. Therefore, I won't have to worry about the final exam...

One act Play

There was the one act play last Thursday, and I was very excited about it because my friend, Jennifer, is the leader of this activity. In order to help her,I also joined this play. I still remember that last time I made up for the actors, however, I couldn't do it well. This time, I was the waitress to welcome the guests so I wore formal cloth and high heels. Also, I had to make up. Therefore, I went home to ask my sister to make up for me, and arrived th place at 4o'clock.As soon as my classmates saw me, they said I was very beautiful,ha ha ha....But I told them it was because I have made up:)

Before the play started, I was really bored, so I took many pictures. At about 6:30, I stood out of the door to welcome the guests and give them directions. The play of freshmen was very funny, I laughed a lot, but my favorite play was sophomore's. The director, Ben, really did a great job. The actors played so well as if that it's their real story! In the end, we got four rewards. Everyone was happy and kept shooting and craping hands. For us, it's the best gift.

I realli like to do a thing with my classmates. After finishing the same thing toghther, I am always touched because I know that everyone is important. Without them, the play won't be success. Next time, I will join the one act play again:)

Orzboyz

This Tuesday, my classmates and I went to see a movie called "Orzboys." I really liked this movie and thought a lot about it after coming home. The movie is a kind of growing story. There are two boys who like to tell lies to others, therefore, the teacher calls them as liar No.1 and liar No.2. These two boys don't live with their parents, instead, one of them lives with his father and the other one lives with his grandmather. It's a pity for them that can't live with their parents, and they seem to be lonely. Maybe that's why they like to tease people...

By expericing different things, the two boys grow up in the end. They like to tell many fairy stories and pretend that their world is wonderful. From people's point of views, they are the kind of children whom parents don't want to have, but they learn how to grow up and face death and separation by themselves. Also, they try to face all the difficulties on their own because no one will teach them how to do. Therefore, they have a dream that someday they can to "unusual dimension space." Liar No.1 tell liar No.2 that is a world which they don't need to do any homework and there are also no annoying things there. However, if you go to unusual dimension space, you can't come back anymore....

When liar No.2 has a toy he has been longing for, instead of giving it to him, liar No.1 decides to sell it. Liar No.2 is angry because he thinks it's "his" toy, but liar No.1 regards it as "their" toy. They choose different dreams and separate in the end. After liar No.1 leaves, liar No.2 has to grow up on his own. He goes to the playground and tries to get into unusual dimension space. Although he fails, he really grows up. He grows to a man who has never forgotten his friend and dreams in his childhood.

To sum up, it's a touching movie. By seeing it, you will think about your childhood again, and start to examine yourself. I don't know what kind of person I will be in the furture, but I hope that I can still have my dreams and be innocent.

20081128

Last week, my grandmother died, therefore, I had to come back to Pingtung to join the funeral. On Wednesday morning, my sister and I got up very early to take the train at 6:15. The train was vey comfortable and fast so we all fall asleep. After 3 hours, we arrived Pingtung. As soon as we left the train station, we saw that our parents waved hands to us. Then,we got in my father's car and chatted with them a lot. I haven't seen them for a month and I miss them very much.

All of my cousins and relatives came back to my grandparents' home, and we all wore black clothes to show our sadness. At about 1:30, the funeral started. We saw that our grandmother lay on the bed, and then we talked to her because it was the last time that we could see her. When we talked to her, everyone cried except me. I didn't why I didn't cry, but I just didn't want to cry. As I saw them cry, I feel that they were phony. Before my grandmother died, some of them seldom came to visit her, and they even did something bad that made my grandmother feel sad before. However, they cried loudly in the funeral. I didn't know what to say, but their behaviors were strange to me.

Jamp! Boys

After taking many exams, I felt relax and went to libery to watch a movie called "JampBoys".It's a story about seven boys who try hard to make their dreams come true. Those boys are only seven or eight, but they all want to be good gymnasts. In order to join a compitition, they stay in the school to practice gymnastics everyday during the summer vacation. No matter how tired they are, they still keep practicing it. In the end, they win the national compitition and make their dreams come true.

I was touched by this movie because of those boys' courage. Some of them are not good at studies, therefore, they are very shy in the class and seldom talk. However, when they practice gymnasts, it seems that they are confident and active. For them, the most important thing is to be a good gymnast. In order to reach their goals, they will try it again and again even they get hurt or don't have any energy. Before practicing gymnastics, the instructor will help them stretch. One of the boys, 小恩, can't bear the pain. Everytime he has to stretch, he will start to cry. However, he will practice it after crying.

I really respect those boys. When I was as young as them, I just played everyday and never thought about "dreams", but they have had their dreams and tried to make them come true step by step. I felt shame because I was so different from them.....

The movie also talks about the story of the instructor, who is also a good gymnast and join many internatonal compititions. He started to practice gymnastics when he was ten, however,he gave it up after he entered junior high school. He said that it was too tired to practice it everyday and he just wanted to play at that time. After many years, he regret and come back to practice it again. He thinks that people who have patience can success in the end. Also, he believe that some of those boys will become good gymnasts in the future.

There were a lot of mushrooms in hot pot, and it was really delicious.

Later, we went to 新社花海. As we arrived there, we were excited and felt relax. There were many different colors' flowers, such as white, pink, red, and yellow.
Also, there were many lovers, and it made us feel a little sad, ha ha ha.

We took a lot of pictures, however, Claire thought it was boring to take beautiful pictures. Therefore, we started to take some pictures with strange poses. It was really embarrassed because many people were keeping looking at us.

This week

This week I was very tired and busy. Because I went home last weekend, I didn't study hard but watched TV and chatted with my parents all day. In fact,I knew I should study, but I was too lazy and really wanted to relax. Therefore, I had to keep studying this week in order to pass the exams. However, I was upset because I did't like all the subjects that I studied. For example, I was not interested in English Literature. I didn't understand the meaning of stories and I considered them as boring stories ...

On Wednesday, I felt more upset. At first,I thought that we wouldn't have any test today, but I was wrong. Morever, I got poor grades. It made me worry about my exam next week. Furthermore, we had to study two novels for the exam, and I spent a lot of time reading the first novel. Therefore, I didn't have enough time to read the second one. However, the teacher changed his mind and said that we should only read the second novel for the exam. It really drove me crazy!

Today, when I went to PE class, the teacher told us that there would be a Japanese joined our group, so he hoped we could told him the rules and told him what we should do during the class. Because he could only say a little Chinese, we talked to each other in English. In that way, I felt that the class was not PEclass but English class. It was really fun.

Cheer Squad

There is a cheer squad competition this afternoon. In order to help the freshmen in our department, my friend, Paulin, and I went to language center to make up for them. When we arrived there, we saw that they had started to make up and changed their hairstyles. Also, they were very excited and took a lot of pictures. At about 1:15, Nep, the leader of cheer squad, tried to courage them. He tald them that the most important thing is not to win but to have fun.

After finishing everything that we could do, Paulin went to the area of competition to occupy the seats for us, and I went to buy some food. When it was about 2:00, the competition began. The team of our department was very special because all of the members wore uniforms of senior high school, even if boys also wore it. Therefore, everyone cheered for them as they appeared. Their performance was really cool, most importantly, their flyer did a good job! It caught our eyes.

When they came back to take a rest, Paulin and I bought some drink for them and talked to them. They were very happy and felt that they performed much better than before. At the same time, many sophomore came here and chatted with them. It seemed that everyone had fun. When the judges were going to announce the result of competition, everyone was nervous and listened carefully. In the end, we heard that the judges said that we could go to the final competition tomorrow. We jumped and embraced each other. It was a really happy ending!

No matter weather they will win the competition, they really have a great performance. For me, they are the best!

The Most Distant Course

The movie is about move and loneliness. 小雲, who is played by 桂綸鎂, is the third person. She always does everything by herself because she knows that her boyfriend can't keep her accompany all the time. She goes to work by herself, eats dinner by berself, even moves house by herself. When she feels lonely, she just sits on the corner of the room, and talks to herself. One day, she receives a tape form a man, 小湯. Because of curiosity, she listens the tape and finds that there are a lot of beautiful voices in it. After receiving many tapes from 小湯, she decides to fond out where the voices are and who the man is.

小湯, who is a recording engineer, breaks up with his girlfriend. In order to make his girlfriend love him again, he goes to the east of Taiwan and records many tape called" Voices of Formosa."He keeps sending the tapes to his girlfriend, however, his girfriend has already moved to the other place..... 阿才, who is a psychiatrist, always cures patients calmly. But one day, he realizes that he also has many problems, therefore, he goes to the east of Taiwan and tries to find where his first lover is......

"What is the most distant course?" Actually, it's a very difficult question. I have read a poery written by Rabindranath Tagore:" The furthest distance in the world , Is not between life and death,But when I stand in front of you ,Yet you don't know that I love you." For me, the most distant couse is the distance of hearts between people. Even you are in front of the person you love, you may don't know what he thinks about. Also, I think heart is the most complicates thing in the world. When people fall in love with each other, they will feel that they are together even they are in the distant course. Because their hearts are closed to each other. However, when they don't love each other anymore, they will feel that they are in the distant course even they are near each other.

Cape No.7

Recently, this movie becomes very popular in Taiwan. wherever I go, I always hear that people talk about this movie all the time. Therefore, I also went to see the movie with my friends two weeks ago. After seeing the movie, I realized why people like it very much.

It is a story about dream, love, and music. A man, A-ga, who wants to be a singner in Taipei, doesn't make his dream come true. In the end, he gives it up and comes back to his hometown, Pingtung. After he comes home, he just stays at home and does nothing. But one day, because of an car accident, he has to be a postman, however, he doesn't care about this job so he doesn't carry the letters to the right place. Instead, he puts the letters in his room everyday. One day,he feels interested in some letters written by Japanese. Because of curiosity, he reads the letters but cannot understand the meanings.

Suddenly, there is an good opportunity for him. He can have a band and perform a show in front of many people, but it's very difficult because he has to write two songs and find the partners to play the band with him in three days. Finally, there are some people who can play instruments join the band ,but A-ga doesn't like them and thinks that they don't really understand music. Therefore, they often argue and cannot practice well. At the same time, he often argues with a woman, Yuuko, who has to plan this performance.......

The most famous line in this movie is that "stay here or I will go with you." When I heard it, I felt that it's the most romantic line that I have ever heard. Usually, people will ask their lovers to stay with them, but they won't say they are willing to go with their lovers. When A-ga says that to Yuuko, I was really touched.

However, I still feel something strange . For example, how can A-ga and Yuuko fall in love so suddenly? They alway quarrel with each other, how can they realize that they love each other and have a one night stand so fastly? It really confuse me. Furthermore, how about the owner of the letters? In the end, A-ga gives the letters to the owner, but we don't know the feelings about the owner. Does she cry? Does she think of some memories? Will she want to go to Japan and talk to her lover's daughter? There are still a lot of questions that I want to know.

To sum up, it's a good movie. It makes me understand that nothing is impossible. Everybody has his dreams, if you want to make your dream come true, just do it! Try hard and catch the opportunities, then you can make your dreams come ture someday.

Television Commercials

Whenever we watch television, we are always interrupted by many commercials . Commercials can be classified into many kinds, such as food, drink, athletic facilities, medicine and so on.They often try a lot of ways to attract the attention of consumers and make customers to buy the products, however, some of them are very exaggerative and not true.
Once I have watched a commercial of weight-loss drugs . The commercial star who is beautiful and slim tells us that she was fat before, after eating the weight-loss drugs, she becomes thin and confident. Therefore, she thinks everyone can loss weight successfully if they eat the drugs. In my opinion, it's a lie that people can be slim without doing any exercise. Doctors always tell people that the best way to loss weight is eat less and do a lot of exercise, therefore, it's impossible to be slim as easy as the commercial star said. Sadly, there are many girls who want to be thin believe the commercial and even spend much money buying the drug. In the end, instead of becoming thin and beautiful, they get sick and are not healthy.

9/30free writing one

When people turn on TV everyday, they will watch a lot of commercials. For example, I often watch many food commercials on tv.After watching thefood commercials, it impress me and makes me want to taste the food. Therefore , it seems that a good commercial can make people feel interested in that product. However,in order to impress people, some commercials are too exggrate.
